Fostering Innovation and Knowledge Exchange: RWE’s Perspective on IERE

IERE offers an ideal platform for interaction between academia and industry, because of its clear focus on innovative energy technologies, fostering research and promoting knowledge transfer. Through IERE we see how technologies emerge, develop towards business opportunities, and potentially shape the future of energy systems.

I have been actively involved in IERE’s activities for more than 15 years and was honored to support IERE in organizing a workshop and the 25th IERE General Meeting, hosted by RWE. And I can say without doubt that the insights RWE has gained as an active member helped us in our own technology scouting.

The IERE takes a leadership role, for instance by driving the collaborative study on hydrogen economy scouting in member countries, as well as by producing valuable and comprehensive technology foresight reports. Personally, I very much appreciate the openness of both the IERE organization, and the individual members. This openness leads to exchange of knowledge and thought of the highest quality. We look to IERE to continue fostering the spirit of engagement across borders.
